Description

The canvas shows a woman in three-quarter shape in an opulent dress. The depiction of the music in the foreground is very accurate and shows page 24 of a songbook with the notes and text of the "Cantus" of the madrigal "Madonna per voi ardo" by Philippe Verdelot in the "Primo Libro dei Madrigali" (printed in Venice in 1533).
