Liturgical bag; depicting at the recto side Jesus crowning his mother (Coronation of the Virgin) among six musician angels: on the left, top-down: natural-trumpet-like instrument, kettle drums, and most probably a bowed instrument (the instrument is almost covered by the angel's body), being held in the right hand, while the fingers of the left hand are on the strings of the neck); on the right, top-down: lute, harp, Renaissance trumpet. On the verso side of the bag is a depiction of the glory of the Virgin. According to the information provided by the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana the liturgical bag is intended to hold the sacred linens used for the celebration of the Eucharist and it reportedly belonged to Antipope John XXIII, who lived between the 14th and 15th centuries during the so-called Western Schism.
