The work belongs to an original stucco work and a fragment of one fresco, which now are part of The Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection (14.114.1-22). Pinturicchio designed the ceiling decoration of scenes from classical mythology for Pandolfo Petrucci, despot of Siena, about 1509, shortly after he finished working in the Piccolomini Library.
