Description

Based on a drawing by David Allan, now owned by the Royal Collection Trust (913360), but previously owned by Paul Sandby, the print presents a view of people gathered at the finish-line of a horse race at Carnival time in Rome. The victorious horse is escorted by a handler and a trumpeter astride another horse. Architectural details of the scene and activities of the spectators differ from the earlier prints in this series.
