Item type:paintingDate of creation:ca. 1745Height:47.0 cm (18 1/2 in.)Width:101.6 cm (40 in.)Technique / Medium:oil on canvasDescription
A large hunting horn hanging from a tree branch at the left side of this painting identifies the work as a hunting scene. Similar to an undated sketch by Wooton (RIdIM 6289), six dogs dominate the foreground; in the background, many more dogs race toward the far center as are being released from confinement in a thatched building on the right; a man standing beside his horse seems to be supervising the release from the doorway.
