Description

Painting presents Shakespearean characters Slender, Shallow, and Anne Page in act III, scene iv of "The Merry Wives of Windsor." The setting is an interior room with a table, a window to a landscape view, and a door to a room and people beyond it. On the floor at the left of the painting there is an instrument case resting against the wall; at the right of the painting there is an English guitar, with strap, leaning against a chair.
