Masked lovers dancing arm in arm
Description
Both of the dancers in this porcelain pair wear masks: the man's is half-face brown, the woman's is full-face black, supplemented by black elbow-length, fingerless gloves (only the right one visible in museum photograph).
Description from museum website:
Arm in arm, a youth with brownish green mask, his waistcoat finely painted with scrolling flowers and his green breeches with star and quatrefoils in purple, and his companion with red and green hat, black mask, her white coat and apron edged in iron-red and her skirt with a trellis design in blue, ochre and purple, a flowerspray covering a firing crack in the rockwork base.
