From the Národní galerie Praha website: Dated from November 1889 to February 1890, the collection of studies of models are the only pieces to have survived from the artist's sojourn in Paris at the turn of 1889 and 1890. Bartoněk painted them in a private art school studio. The students who arrived in Paris from all over Europe could choose from a wide range of male and female models to paint nudes as well as exotic types dressed in costumes.
