Description

Goss was largely devoted to composing church music. In 1824 he was appointed organist at St Luke's, Chelsea and in 1838 he succeeded his teacher Thomas Attwood as organist at St Paul's Cathedral, a post he held from 1838 to 1872. During his career, Goss composed many important anthems, orchestral works and glees.
