Description

The sitter was a noted local musician. He is the first recorded organist at Bolton Parish Church until sacked by Canon Slade after playing a fiddle during Sunday service while drunk. A noted Bolton character; he was supported by local charity. His music is still played by folk musicians and his tomb is in Bolton Parish Churchyard.
