Description

"A nereid is seated precariously on the back of Triton as they glide through the rolling waves. Riding a snub-nosed dolphin, a small Cupid holds on to Triton's fin and gazes up toward the sea nymph's unnecessarily exposed bottom. Behind them, a twin-tailed siren, who clutches the baton with which she can still the waters, grasps the neck of a bounding hippocampus, while a putto flutters forward to place a wreath on her. The two hippocampi appear to whinny, perhaps to accompany Triton, who puffs out his cheeks to blow his famous horn." -- Bernard Barryte
