Description

A young child is holding the body of a violin by his right hand under his right arm. The bow hangs down from his fingers at the frog, and he holds the scroll of the instrument in his left hand. His head is tilted slightly to the right, and he is looking at the ground while leaning with his left shoulder against a wooden door and standing on his left leg with his right leg crossed over it with the toes of his right foot against the ground. There is eyeliner around his eyes, and he is wearing a white shirt with poet or bishop sleeves, a silk scarf tied around his neck, tights on his legs, and black slippers. Torn posters are peeling from the wall behind him. The photographer's signature appears on the mat at the lower right.
