This artist's rendering shows the interior of the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples looking toward the stage where an opera performance is in progress with a large cast possibly of ballet dancers and a large chorus. The stage scenery has tall Moorish arches in the background. Footlights are visible along the edge of the stage with a large orchestra in the pit. The audience is seated on benches on the main floor of the theater and in the six levels of boxes on both sides. Nearly every seat is occupied. The interior of the theater is ornately decorated with paintings on the ceiling and with candelabras having three candles each mounted at the top of each column of the boxes. The imperial coat-of-arms is mounted at the top of the proscenium.
