The dentist's wife is willing to accept a box at the Opera in the company of the happy Beaucoq, however, the husband proves troublesome
Description
This caricature shows an opera box with a woman and two men. The woman is seated at the front of the box in a large hoop dress and a fan in her right hand. Her bonnet is hung on the wall of the box to her right. She is looking back over her left shoulder in surprise at the two men. A bearded man with glasses sticks his head through the window of the opera box door and is staring intently at the woman. The chair to the left of the woman is empty. Another man is standing to the left of the chair at the back of the box and is looking in astonishment at the man at the door. This cartoon is above a second drawing of a scene in a restaurant showing two seated men and a waiter. The man on the left is pointing toward the waiter in the middle and has a wide-eyed expression and open mouth in reaction to the actions of the waiter. The waiter, seen from the back, has two bowls of soup each on a plate in his hands. The soup bowl on the right is spilling on the man seated on the right who holds a knife in his right hand.
