Description
In this caricature, an elderly Anacreon stretches forward at a banquet table toward a woman who is tossing a grape for him to catch in his mouth. He leans forward with his hands on the table. His large, crooked nose above his toothless mouth gapes open in anticipation of catching and swallowing the grape. His eyes gaze intently on the grape. His head is covered with a wreath of flowers. The smiling woman faces him with her right arm raised to throw the grape and the left hand holds a clump of grapes near the table top. The table has a large pitcher for wine and plates both with and without food. There is a title at the top and a humorous poem under the caption.
