Description

A caricature of the composer Adolphe Adam, who is shown from his left profile with an elongated face. His large, long nose protrudes to the ends of his large, thick lips. His oversized head is placed on a small, thin body. He is wearing a tricorn on top of a powdered wig. His glasses with rectangular lenses are set at the end of his nose. He has an earring in his ear. His jacket has a short tail, and he is wearing knee breeches and hose. He has a volume labeled, Partitica, under his right arm and a whip in his right hand, which he cracks toward two gentlemen in the background. He is facing the street while standing on the front step of a building with two large columns behind him, one of which is labeled, Opéra Comique. The two gentlemen in the background are wearing top hats. One is looking toward Adam with his left hand outstretched, his right hand in his pocket, and a newspaper under his right arm. The other man is walking away from the scene.
