Description
Seven 17th-century Flemish gentlemen are gathered in a picture gallery room to play and listen to music. Pictures occupy all of the wall space from floor to ceiling. One man on the left is entering the room, looking outside and gesturing with his right hand for others to come in. Three men are playing music from two music stands. Two men are standng and playing violins, while one is seated and playing a viola da gamba. Two men are holding music in their hands, one standing and one seated, while another man is observing the playing of one of the violinists. None of the men are singing. A table is to the right of the seated man. A plate of large lobsters sits on top of a cloth partially draped on a small table. A blue and white porcelain jug with two v-shaped glasses of wine sit at the back of the table. Another large ceramic jug sits at the far right on the black and white checkered tile floor.
