Description

On this hanging scroll, the artist depicts the scene in the poem 'Song of the lute' by Bai Juyi (Tang Dynasty). Bai and a friend sit in their boat, transfixed by the beauty of the song played on lute (probably pipa) by a courtesan. The scroll is from the Ming Dynasty period.
