Two figures stand in front of a curtain, in this full-length shot, with their backs to camera. The left figure is naked from the waist up, wearing baggy dark trousers and dark shoes. Their arm is placed around the shoulders of the other figure. The figure on the right wears a suit jacket, has bare legs, and wears socks and shoes. They also wear a hat.

Notes

The Bal de la Montagne Sainte-Geneviève was a renowned Paris nightclub during the 1920s and 1930s. Although there were heterosexual patrons, and shows that featured heterosexual couples (such as the Danse Apache), the majority of patrons identified as gay, lesbian, or bisexual. It is for this reason that the description of the photograph does not specify gender, despite the figures appearing to exhibit male body-types.
