Description
Portrait of the Hungarian violinist and violin teacher József Böhm (Pest, 1795–Vienna, 1876). After the training with his father and Pierre Rode, he came to Vienna in ca. 1813, where he was a violin teacher at the Conservatory of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde (1826–76) and a member of the Wiener Hofmusikkapelle (1821–76). In his violin class studied Jenő Hubay, Joseph Joachim, Edouard Reményi, Jakob Dont, Georg und Joseph Hellmesberger, and Jakob Moritz Grün.
