Description
Portrait of the French composer, pianist and organist (1785–1858). His knowledge of counterpoint was outstanding for his time and he was one of the first organists in France to promote the music of Bach. His compositions include two three-part masses and a large repertory of piano, organ and chamber works. Boëly holds an important position in French music and was admired by the younger generation of French composers such as Franck and Saint-Saëns.
