Description
The painting belongs to the series "Alegorías del Credo" ("Allegories of the Credo"), executed by Miguel González in late 16th and early 17th centuries. It provides a depiction of the Last Judgment, including an angel blowing a straight trumpet. The text in the medallion on the painting’s bottom reads: “San Mateo desde alli[=í] [h]a de b[=v]enir a jus[=z]gar a los vib[=v]os y a los muertos.” (“From here Saint Matthew shall come to judge the living and the dead.”)
