Description
From Patricia Fullerton's 1998 book: [Self-] Portrait painted in Ramsay's Paris studio, 51 Boulevard St Jacques, Montparnasse. On the left is a large canvas - its content is hidden from the viewer. The artist turns to the viewer between brushstrokes. On the right is an upright piano - the keyboard lid is open and sheet music is open on its music stand. Further items are piled on top of the instrument. A chair is turned at an angle as if someone has just moved away from the instrument. The artist was a proficient pianist and organist.
