Description

This painting depicts the procession of Our Lady of Sablon from the Ommeganck (Ommegang) in Brussels on 31 May 1615. It is one of a series of six paintings by Denys van Alsloot commemorating the event, which was also a triumphal pageant for Archduchess Isabella. Among the many members of the procession is an ensemble of six musicians playing sackbut, shawms, cornetto and curtal (dulcian).
