Description

Central panel: The Virgin and Child enthroned, adored by donors, Cistercian monk and nun; around the Virgins throne several angels making music, on the throne's top on each side three angels blowing curved trumpet (very long; shape very similar to the shape of an alphorn); on the throne's right side three angels playing musical instruments; harp, fiddle, flute(?); in the right distance an angel playing flute (or recorder) and an angel probably singing from music (not legible); beneath the throne three angels singing from music (hardly legible) and an angel holding shawm (probably a bombarde); on the throne's left an angel playing lute (?), another indicating something in a book (possibly music book, not legible) while looking at the lute player, the third angel holding shawm in right hand (partially visible); left wing: Saint Bernard and two Cistercian monks adoring the Virgin and Child; right wing: Cistercian saint (unidentified) and two Cistercian monks adoring the Virgin and Child; exterior: The Virgin appearing to Saint Bernard of Clairvaux.
