The painting gives detailed account of Jason's conquest of the Golden Fleece: at the upper part Jason in the golden armor bidding farewell to King Pelias; at the right the death of the king at the hands of his daughter; below this, Jason with horse setting out to enlist companions; a man plays a flat-topped lute (details hardly visible, not clearly depicted); nearby, on the right side of Mount Pelion is the ship Argo; in the right foreground the hunt of the Calydonian boar.
