Description

In the center King Aeëtes with his daughters Medea and Chalciope on high throne; in front of them Jason followed by a group of people and Orpheus, who is playing fiddle (the instrument is very big); in the middle background a circular enclosure representing the Grove of Ares and in the center an oak tree on which is hanging the Golden Fleece, nearby Orpheus playing fiddle and Jason who is driving the fire-breathing oxen and killing the dragon; at the right once again Jason before the king, then at the foot of the stairway mounting a horse and galloping across the drawbridge; in the background at the left Medea and Jason with a group of people, among them Orpheus playing fiddle (instrument very big); beyond in a cauldron Jason's father Aeson being magically rejuvenated by Medea, near them standing Diana.
