Description

In this over-door decoration from the Royal Castle Marly-le-Roi, a female singer in a turquoise skirt sits on the ground in a small clearing in an overgrown forest with two male instrumentalists. The flute player sits next to the singer while the lute player is seated behind her. All three appear to be looking at a small book the singer is holding in her lap, which is presumably music.
