Description

Description from Ulieriu-Rostás (see References): "An early fragmentary neck-amphora [that] features a crowned, beardless aulos player wearing the phorbeia and an ankle-length chiton, paired with a bearded listener on the other side of the vase. The instrument is visually defined by the combination of a long, plain tube (crossed by a narrow rim-like band at its lower end), and four increasingly shorter segments leading to the blowing end of the instrument; three of them follow a moderately bulbous outline, while the fourth has a distinct flare towards the joining with the phorbeia."

Ulieriu-Rostás lists the vase's date of creation as ca. 490-480 BCE, though the Beazley Archive Database lists a broader possible range (525-475 BCE).
