Description
A young woman seated beside a square piano, holding music (not legible), under the chair another music score lying (folded, not legible); the piano bearing the label "1797 / Kirkman Fecit / London."; on the piano's stand is music (hardly legible: "pi[a] / ... / [Velti] Subita); the keyboard is incorrectly rendered.

The depiction of the square piano is of interest insofar as the prestigious London harpsichord firm of Josephus Kirkman and Sons began to manufacture square pianos in 1775, but no example of them appears to have survived.
