Description

The panel depicts a so-called simultaneous depiction of events of the life of Saint John the Baptist as described in the Gospel of Mark, 6:21-28: the dance of Salome in front of her stepfather Herod (in the background), the beheading of Saint John the Baptist (in the foreground), and the handing over of the head to Herodias (Salome's mother) (on the left side).
