Description
The members of the De Neufville family reportedly were portrayed by Van Musscher in the gardens of "Meer en Berg" their country estate in Heemstede, purchased by David in 1696 (the same year as the date of the painting) [...] The painting shows David gesturing to a drawing by Catherina, of the flower being held by Agneta who i standing between her husband and daughter. De Neufville was a famous merchant in clothes and textiles.
