Description

Musicians on horseback are a well-documented subject in tombs of the Shaanxi region. The ensemble here consists of two lutes (a typical pi-pa and an older ru-an with a circular body), a bili or guan (double reed), a konghou (vertical angled harp) and two percussion instruments (small cymbals and a yaoghu, a horizontal two-skinned drum worn at the waist and played with the hands).
