Description

A man and a woman in an interior: the woman is sitting on the right of a table on which leans a lute. She is flanked by a viola da gamba and a lute case, at her left and right respectively. The man is standing in the background fixing the strings of the lute standing on a chair. || Ein Herr wechselt bei einer Laute eine gerissene Saite. Derweil sitzt eine Dame in einem schwarzen Satinkleid auf einem Stuhl und sieht aus dem Gemälde hinaus, zum Betrachter hin. Rechts neben ihr, am Bildrand, ist ein Instrumentenkasten (wahrscheinlich für eine Laute) zu sehen. Links von ihr steht ein Tisch mit Decke, an dem eine Viola da gamba samt Streichbogen lehnt und auf dem eine Laute oder eine Theorbe liegt - es ist nur die Unterseite des Korpus zu sehen, nicht aber der Hals und der Wirbelkasten.
