Description

From the National Gallery of Art: "As the woman in the centre plays a lute, her companions sing; the figure on the right holds the score. In the past this painting has been attributed to the School of Palma Vecchio, Lotto, Pordenone and Bonifazio. The treatment of the subject is close to Palma Vecchio's 'Three Sisters' (Dresden, Gemäldegalerie), but the style of the work suggests that it may be by an artist from Friuli on stylistic grounds. The dress indicates a date in the mid-1520s."
