Description
The fresco shows the mythological Mount Parnassus, home of Apollo. He is surrounded by the nine muses, nine ancient poets, and nine contemporary poets. Apollo plays a lira da braccio, and Sappho is grasping what appears to be a fancifully depicted barbiton.
