"Bronze medal struck in honour of Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805). Paris mint no. 66798. Purchased for 49 FF. Obverse: Face of Luigi Boccherini with MSS. passage from an instruental work in background dated 1774 (approximately first 8 bars of 1st movement, Allegro moderato, of quintet #23 for two violins, viola, and two violoncellos in D minor, Op. 18, No. 5 of 1774 ('opera grande') in Boccherini's autograph catalogue, G.287) Lettering reads 'Luigi Boccherini 1743-1805' Reverse: Sextet, 2 violins, 1 viola, guitar, violoncello, and harpsichord, inscription "MARCEL RENARD" Edge: inscription "1972 mark BRONZE"
