Notes

According to Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon, this is a group portrait of Michel de La Barre (standing), Marin Marais, Antoine Fourqueray, Jean Hotteterre and Jacques Hotteterre. Some scholars believe the subjects of the painting are other persons. Another version of this painting is owned by the National Gallery in London (see RIdIM item 2162).
